This Project is based in Palmyra. Palmyra was an important Oasis in Syria and now houses important historical landmarks. This area was almost destroyed by terror attacks. Our aim here was to design a cemetery and other public functions that satisfy the needs of the citizens and the people visiting the site. Furthermore, the main theme is to bring an atmosphere that existed but maintained the unfortunate events of the war. Having studied and analyzed the history of this area, we found out that there was a natural history museum that also held out cultural events. Therefore, we decided to design a cultural center, with the ground floor being the museum and the first floor accommodating a cafe, auditorium, offices, and library. In addition to that, we have designed a path where it goes from the city, passes through the cemetery, then by the cultural center, and towards a memorial that is placed in the mountain that glorifies the view of the abandoned city. This path was designed to go through the ruins creating a historical experience for the actors. Furthermore, the path is designed as a direct route that passes through all the ruins and allows the actor to experience the area as they wish by leaving the path to explore the points chosen. Additionally, the path is made of steel mesh to create minimum impact on the landscape.
